  • Deadline for Grant applications for Video in Learning course 15 September!

    These are still some spaces available in the week-long course "Using Video to Support Lifelong Learning" being organised 14-19 February 2011 in Leuven. This course will provide participants with the basics of video capture and editing as well as training on how to publish their video materials online. Funding to cover the full costs of participation including accommodation and flights is available through the Comenius/Grundtvig programme of the European Commission, full course details are available here. The deadline for application for this funding is 15/09/2010. For information about how to apply for funding in your country, contact your national agency.

    This issue includes a feature article on the educational outreach programme of the San Francisco Film Society, the programme for the Media and Learning Conference 2010 and highly relevant developments in camera technologies for educational video producers. It also reminds teachers and trainers about the deadline for a full grant to take part in an educational video production workshop in Belgium in February 2011, and highlights a new Italian WEBTV service by CSP and MEDEA's new national contact point in Bulgaria, Zinev Art Technologies Ltd. (ZAT).

  • MEDEA's Best-Practice examples of educational media presented at EDEN 2010

    Deborah Arnold and Sally Reynolds gave a presentation about MEDEA entitled "Sharing Experiences from the MEDEA Awards" during the recent EDEN conference held in Valencia from 9-12 June. The presentation provided background information to the MEDEA awards and showed several of the winning entries. It also provided a description of the types of media in popular use in the learning context, and involved the audience in a discussion about what they considered effective educational media.

  • MEDEA's experiences presented at EdTech 2010 in Ireland

    The MEDEA Awards was recently included in the Irish EdTech 2010 Conference where Philip Penny (IADT) highlighted the MEDEA competition and our promotion of best-practice showcases in the framework of the MEDEA:EU project as a poster presentation. The 10th Annual Irish Learning Technology Association Conference EdTech 2010 was held on May 20th - May 21st 2010 at Athlone Institute of Technology in Ireland.

Visit this news repository to read the April issue of the Media in Education Newsletter which highlights EdReNe's strategic seminar on repositories of learning resources, MEDEA 2009 finalist Planet SciCast, a Danish and a Dutch website about IPR, the Maltese national contact point for MEDEA and several calls for papers for conferences including the Media & Learning Conference 2010 Brussels.

  • New Media & Learning Conference incorporates MEDEA Awards

    The MEDEA Awards 2010 and prizegiving ceremony will be incorporated into a new conference entitled Media & Learning: towards the era of digital fluency, which will be organised in Brussels, 25-26 November 2010. This conference will bring together practitioners and policy makers and will highlight the latest developments, services and digital and media competences in education and training. Proposals for presentations, demonstrations and workshops at this conference must be submitted before 1 June 2010.

    The March issue of the Media in Education Newsletter was published on 15 March 2010 and it included news about: Finnish Media Education Policies, an online survey into educators’ selection and use of video clips in their classrooms, the E-MOTION project, Traditions Across Europe which was the MEDEA European Collaboration Award 2009 winner, and an announcement of the new Media & Learning Conference.
